Herdsmen Kill 3, Set House Ablaze in Benue State

A wave of violence swept through Gbajimba in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State yesterday, leaving three people dead and several others injured. The attacks, carried out by a group of herdsmen, targeted road commuters and residents in nearby villages.

According to eyewitnesses, the herdsmen ambushed okada riders in a nearby village, killing two and making off with their motorcycles. Several others were injured in the attack.

In a separate incident, a man was brutally murdered in his residence at Tse-Atu. The attackers also set a house ablaze, leaving the family displaced.

The attacks have sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents expressing fear and uncertainty about their safety. The Benue State government has been criticized for its handling of the crisis, with many calling for greater action to protect citizens from herdsmen attacks.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks carried out by herdsmen in Benue State, which has been at the epicenter of the herdsmen-farmer conflict in Nigeria. The conflict has resulted in hundreds of deaths and displacement of thousands of people.

The police and other security agencies have been deployed to the area to restore order and investigate the attacks. However, many residents remain skeptical about the ability of the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent future attacks.
