The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) has announced the approval of N20,075,050,006.55 for disbursement to 192,906 students in public tertiary institutions nationwide. This latest disbursement brings the total amount disbursed by NELFund to N130 billion, following the previous disbursement of N110 billion to students across the country ¹.
According to NELFund’s Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr, the disbursement was made as of January 1, 2025. The beneficiaries include students from various institutions, with northern universities topping the list.
Top Beneficiaries:
-Bayero University, Kano*: 11,683 students to receive N1.3 billion
– University of Maiduguri*: 12,198 students to share N1.27 billion
– University of Jos*: 6,988 students to receive N941 million
– Federal University Dutsin-Ma*: 8,978 students to benefit from N909 million
– University of Ibadan*: 4,907 students to receive N746 million
Other institutions with fewer beneficiaries include Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga, Abia State Polytechnic, and Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.
The disbursement is expected to support students in public tertiary institutions nationwide, helping to alleviate financial burdens and promote education.
