President Bola Tinubu on Saturday praised Enugu Governor, Barr Peter Mbah, for his impressive development efforts during a one-day official visit to the Coal City State. Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement held at the Banquet Hall, Governor’s Lodge, Enugu Government House, Tinubu commended Mbah’s leadership and achievements.
The president stated, “The governor is doing a fantastic job. I am glad that Enugu got a very good job tomorrow, today. I salute Peter Mbah for his commitment to development.”
Tinubu acknowledged the governor’s progress in technological advancements and private sector partnerships, saying, “You have built up a good team, and I have reviewed a number of things with you in Abuja. You have encouraged me on the technological advancement of the state. The commitment you have from the private sector. I know your background.”
Setting aside political affiliations, Tinubu emphasized unity for national progress. “The election is over, and we have to move the nation forward. You have demonstrated that irrevocable commitment towards human development,” he remarked. Tinubu added, “I don’t care which party you come from. You are my friend. You are doing well and very focused. We must build this house called Nigeria to not just satisfy our immediate need, but our tomorrow too.”
He defended the removal of the fuel subsidy as a necessary step to protect future generations, stating, “We cannot spend the future of a generation yet unborn in advance. Don’t bankrupt the nation before they’re born.”
Tinubu also highlighted Mbah’s efforts in improving security and attracting both local and foreign investors. “I am very proud of Nigeria. Mbah is proud of Nigeria. He is doing everything possible to provide security, attracting foreign investors, and other investors locally,” he noted. He praised the Distress Response Squad initiative, describing it as a commendable approach to ensuring safety.
The president urged stakeholders to continue supporting Mbah. “Please, continue to cooperate and collaborate with your son, brother, and friend here, Mbah, who is really committed to pushing the development of Enugu State and being a good symbol of southeastern states,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Tinubu commissioned several projects completed by the Mbah administration, further solidifying his support for the governor’s developmental agenda.
