President Bola Tinubu touched down at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, at 1:22 p.m. aboard the Nigeria Air Force Airbus A330, marking the start of his official visit to the state.
During the visit, the President is set to inaugurate several projects initiated by Governor Peter Mbah, including the state-of-the-art Enugu International Conference Centre. According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, additional projects slated for commissioning include:
- 30 fully completed and equipped Enugu Smart Green Schools, part of a larger initiative to build 260 schools across all wards in the state.
- 60 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, completed and equipped out of a planned 260 centers statewide.
- 90 newly completed urban roads within Enugu City.
- A state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre with 150 patrol vehicles embedded with AI-enabled surveillance cameras.
President Tinubu will also commission rural road projects as part of his one-day visit to the state.
Dignitaries present to welcome the President included Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Anambra’s Deputy Governor, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Minister of Works Dave Umahi, and renowned oil magnate Arthur Eze, among others.
