The Anambra State Police Command has announced the recovery of the vehicle belonging to Justice Azuka, the kidnapped member representing Onitsha North Constituency in the state House of Assembly. Azuka was abducted by unknown gunmen on Tuesday night at Ugwunapampa Road, Inland Town in Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Command spokesman, Azuka’s vehicle was recovered by police operatives attached to the Inland Town Division during an ongoing operation. The rescue team found the abandoned vehicle at Upper Iweka Road in Onitsha .
However, the lawmaker’s whereabouts remain unknown, as his abductors have not contacted his family members. The police are intensifying efforts to rescue Azuka and apprehend the kidnappers.
This incident is not the first time a lawmaker has been kidnapped in Anambra State. In May 2022, Okechukwu Okoye, a lawmaker representing Aguata Constituency I, was abducted and later found beheaded.
