A suspected transformer vandal met a tragic end on Monday night at Ihe Primary School in Obukpa, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State. The individual, whose identity remains unknown, was electrocuted while attempting to steal armoured cables belonging to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).
The victim’s body was found with severe burns, indicating the intensity of the electrocution. Reports suggest that the suspect arrived at the scene with accomplices in a mini-bus bearing the registration number BLF-203XA. However, when the incident occurred, the other suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled, leaving the victim behind.
An eyewitness disclosed that upon searching the abandoned mini-bus, an identity card was discovered, potentially providing leads to the fleeing accomplices.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident further to apprehend those involved in the attempted vandalism.
