Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, announced that President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to address all forms of insecurity in the country by 2025.
He made this statement while addressing All Progressive Congress supporters who gathered to welcome him in Gusau on Saturday. According to Mr. Matawalle, the government is committed to equipping security operatives with the necessary resources to carry out their duties without delays.
“I have gone to many countries in regard to the purchases of security gadgets, some already received and deployed to Sokoto,” he said.
The minister emphasized the importance of community involvement in exposing informants, whether residing in the bush or within local communities, to assist operatives in tackling security challenges. He affirmed the government’s commitment to apprehending notorious bandits and their collaborators, stressing that “intelligence information is very crucial to succeed in our target.”
Mr. Matawalle urged affected communities to bravely report criminals and their associates. He added that during his seven-day visit to the state, he would tour several communities to assess security issues for further action.
He also praised President Tinubu for the construction of the Zaria to Sokoto dual carriageway, describing it as a project that will boost security, transportation, and economic activities in the region.
The minister encouraged citizens to continue praying for the president’s success in governance.
