INEC Chairman’s London Death Story Debunked

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has swiftly debunked rumors circulating online about the alleged demise of its Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu. The false story, which went viral on some platforms, claimed that Yakubu passed away in London after a brief illness.

However, INEC’s Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser has categorically refuted the claims, stating: “Please ignore the story. He’s hale and hearty” .This clarification comes amidst growing concerns about the misuse of digital platforms to spread false information.

Evidence points to the fact that Professor Yakubu was actively engaged in professional duties abroad during the period of these baseless rumors. He was notably in Ghana a few days ago, participating in discussions regarding the country’s presidential elections, demonstrating his commitment to promoting democracy and electoral integrity across Africa.
