In his first network interview since winning the 2024 presidential election, President-elect Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to deporting all undocumented immigrants from the United States. Speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Trump stated that he would “have to” carry out mass deportations, a promise that has been a cornerstone of his campaign.
Trump also reiterated his intention to end birthright citizenship, calling the policy “ridiculous.” He suggested that he may use executive action to achieve this goal, possibly as early as his first day in office, or pursue a constitutional amendment.
The President-elect’s comments on immigration come as no surprise, given his long-held stance on the issue. However, his hardline approach has sparked concerns among advocates for immigrant rights and raised questions about the feasibility of implementing such policies.
In addition to his comments on immigration, Trump also threatened to withdraw the United States from NATO unless its allies “pay their bills.” He stated that he would “absolutely” consider taking the country out of the alliance if members are not “treating us fairly.”
