Tobi Adegboyega, founder of the Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church (SPAC Nation), has reacted to the UK court’s ruling on his deportation, saying he’s proud of his achievements and won’t be brought down by persecution. The UK’s immigration upper tribunal ruled that Adegboyega should be deported for flouting immigration rules and having questionable sources of income.
Adegboyega, who arrived in the UK on a visitor’s visa in 2005, has been accused of overstaying his visa and seeking to remain in the country on human rights grounds. However, he defended his achievements, stating that he’s worked hard to succeed in the UK and has not been linked to any criminal activity.
“I’m right here at home, no cause for alarm,” Adegboyega said. “Every Nigerian should be proud of me. I have survived all sorts, and the matter they are propagating is the smallest matter.” He also emphasized that he loves London and considers it his city, adding that he’s proud to be a role model for young people.
The court ruling quoted Adegboyega as saying that he’s supported by his partner, Mary Olubukola Alade, who earns £100,000 per year. He also stated that he has a first-class law degree from Nigeria but has “sacrificed” his legal career to help those in need.
Adegboyega’s reaction comes after the court heard allegations that he wears designer clothing and drives expensive cars, all paid for by his partner. He denied taking any money from the church, emphasizing that he wants to inspire young people to make legitimate money through entrepreneurship.
