A fire outbreak has occurred at the University of Ibadan in Oyo State, razing one of the students’ hostels. The affected hostel, Queen Elizabeth Hall, is exclusively occupied by female undergraduates.
The fire incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, although the cause of the fire has not been disclosed. Firefighters from the institution promptly responded to the incident, preventing the fire from spreading.
The Director of Public Relations at the University of Ibadan, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident to Daily Post. According to Akinpelu, the offices of the Hall Warden and the secretary were affected by the fire.
The university authorities have not provided further details on the incident, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is likely to be conducted.
