Chinese smartphone brand, realme, has launched the realme C61 to tap into Nigeria’s growing smartphone market. According to a Statista report, Nigeria’s smartphone market is expected to reach $9.8 billion in 2024, with an annual growth rate of 6.71% projected between 2024 and 2029. While China leads globally with $105.5 billion in revenue, Nigeria’s rapid growth offers significant opportunities for emerging brands like realme.
At the launch event of the realme C61 in Lagos, Olamide Kaka, Head of Sales for realme Nigeria, highlighted the brand’s commitment to durability, innovation, and affordability. “With the C61, we are introducing a smartphone that combines ruggedness, performance, and affordability. Nigeria’s large population and dynamic youth demographic make it an exciting market for realme,” Kaka said.
The realme C61, part of the brand’s “Champion Series,” boasts a Gorilla Glass screen, a waterproof design, and a 5,000mAh battery with a 48-month warranty. Tailored for young, tech-savvy Nigerians, the device supports gaming and multitasking, ensuring a smooth user experience. “Nigerians deserve value for their money. We are here to provide that by offering devices that last long and deliver outstanding performance,” Kaka added.
Since its establishment in 2018, realme has identified Nigeria as a key market in its African expansion. With a local service center in Lagos and plans to extend services across the country, the company is committed to offering reliable after-sales support to its customers.
Adebari Yusuf, digital marketing lead for realme Nigeria, emphasized the brand’s dedication to tackling counterfeit issues by working with verified retail outlets and e-commerce platforms, which will be announced in December.
