Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his trust in God, disclosing that he won the September 21 governorship election without seeking help from native doctors or prophets. Okpebholo made this revelation on Sunday at Winner’s Chapel in Akho, Irrua, where he worshipped alongside top members of his administration.
The Governor expressed gratitude to God for his victory, stating that his life is filled with testimonies of God’s favor. He emphasized that his faith is in Christ alone and that he did not visit any native doctors or prophets for help in winning the election.
Okpebholo’s statement is significant, as it marks the first time in Nigeria that a person has contested an election without seeking help from native doctors or prophets. The Governor’s trust in God has been a recurring theme throughout his campaign and administration.
In his sermon, Pastor Peter Osawe of Winner’s Chapel Church, Akho, emphasized the importance of God in human life. He encouraged the congregation to continue drawing strength from God’s word and noted that Nigeria will become a better nation if people work together.
Governor Okpebholo also attended a service at God’s People World Wide Prayer Ministry in Illeh, Ekpoma, where Apostle Ehijele Unuayan urged him to remain focused on his vision for the state’s development and the welfare of its people.
The Governor has been a member of the National Assembly, representing Edo Central senatorial district, and has cultivated a diverse portfolio in hospitality, construction, oil and gas, and agriculture ¹. His campaign focused on economic reform, foreign investment, and infrastructure development to bring stability and growth to Edo.
