Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently boasted about his influential network, claiming to have the phone numbers of 14 presidents. Speaking at the ‘Elevate Africa’ programme, he highlighted how his music has opened doors for his family.
“Aside from my dad’s businesses and wealth, I know how many doors my music has opened for my family. Yes o, forget the money. I have 14 presidents’ phone numbers. I can call them directly,” he said. He added, “In every country we go to, the president wants to meet us. That’s also promoting our culture. It’s an amazing feeling.”
Davido has come under fire recently after stating on an American podcast that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles. Responding to whether Nigeria is a tourist destination, he said, “No,” angering many Nigerians who felt he was demarketing the country.
