Osita Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation, has officially announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The announcement was made through a resignation letter addressed to his ward in Anambra State and dated November 29, 2024.
Statement of Departure
Chidoka expressed his immense respect and gratitude to the PDP while explaining his decision to step away from active partisan politics. He reaffirmed his commitment to national unity, good governance, and evidence-based public service.
In his letter, Chidoka stated:
“As I step away from active partisan politics, I remain committed to good governance, national unity, and evidence-based and honest public service. I leave the PDP with immense respect and gratitude and wish the party every success as it continues to reposition itself as a force for positive change in Nigeria.”
Focus on NGO Work
Chidoka announced his plans to dedicate more time to his Non-Governmental Organisation, the Athena Centre. The organization focuses on enhancing public policy and leadership development across Nigeria.
Vision for Nigeria
In closing, Chidoka reiterated his belief in a Nigeria where collective aspirations transcend ethnicity and religion.
“Our national aspiration of building a nation where no man is oppressed will be realised sooner rather than later. I remain hopeful of a renascent Nigeria guided by the spirit of Naija—that shared space where ethnicity and religion do not impede our collective aspirations for a great nation.”
Gratitude and Hope
Chidoka concluded his resignation by thanking PDP members for their support over the years and expressed hope for a future opportunity to contribute directly to Nigeria’s political landscape.
This marks a significant step in Chidoka’s political journey as he transitions to a new phase of service to the nation through his NGO efforts.
