The Julius Abure faction of the Labour Party remains adamant that he continues to serve as the party’s National Chairman, despite the Supreme Court’s ruling.
The court struck out the suits filed by Nenadi Usman and the Abure faction, stating that only political parties have the power to determine their leadership, and the judiciary should not interfere in such internal matters.
The Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, stressed that the court’s ruling supports the party’s right to manage its leadership without external intervention.
He reaffirmed that Abure remains the legitimate National Chairman of the party. The Supreme Court’s decision underscores the principle that political parties retain autonomy in deciding leadership issues, with the judiciary being excluded from involvement in such disputes.
While the ruling dismisses the leadership challenge, the Abure faction continues to insist on his position as the party’s leader.
