A devastating incident has occurred in Ogun State, where Ogunleye Olaegbe, the 49-year-old Baale (village head) of Oke-Oha, was brutally killed by suspected herdsmen. The attack took place on Wednesday while Olaegbe was working on his farm in Oke-Oha Village, Imeko Afon Local Government Area.
According to eyewitnesses, the villagers discovered Olaegbe’s lifeless body in a pool of blood around noon, with signs indicating he had been shot multiple times, dragged from his farm, and left in a nearby bush. The killing has been described as part of an alarming pattern of violent attacks allegedly carried out by herdsmen in the area .
The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation has commenced and efforts are being made to apprehend the perpetrators. The area is currently under close surveillance to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
The police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed that the community chief was shot in the chest before being left in the bush. Odutola added that photographs were taken, and the corpse was evacuated to the Ayetoro General Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
