A tragic incident involving the assault and death of a two-year-old girl has been reported in Ningi LGA, Bauchi State. Superintendent Ahmed Wakil, Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State Police Command, confirmed the incident in a press release issued on Tuesday.
Wakil disclosed that the crime occurred on November 5, 2024, and was reported to the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters.
“The lifeless body of a two-year-old girl was discovered beside a mosque on Deneva Street, Ningi LGA, showing signs of assault,” he noted.
Police detectives were sent to the scene following the report, and the child’s body was moved to General Hospital Ningi, where medical examinations confirmed severe injuries from penetration, which led to her death.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, condemned the act, calling it horrific and heinous.
According to the PPRO, the commissioner instructed the Divisional Police Officer to intensify the investigation to identify and arrest those involved in the crime.
“He also urged parents and guardians to ensure their children’s safety and avoid letting them roam unattended,” Wakil added.
The Police Command also made an appeal to the public for any helpful information that could lead to the location and prosecution of the perpetrators behind this tragic incident.
