Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has come down hard on President Bola Tinubu, criticizing his administration’s handling of the fuel subsidy crisis that has plunged Nigeria into economic turmoil. Atiku slammed Tinubu, referring to him as “T-pain,” a play on words combining Tinubu’s name with “pain” to reflect the widespread economic difficulties Nigerians are facing.
Atiku expressed concerns that the current administration’s haphazard approach to fuel subsidy management has led to the country’s economic crisis, characterized by skyrocketing inflation rates that are “drowning the material well-being of Nigerians”. The recent hike in petrol prices to N998 per liter in Lagos and N1,003 in Abuja has only exacerbated the situation, with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) warning that it will worsen inflation.
Atiku’s comments come as Nigerians struggle to cope with the economic hardship, and the opposition leader’s criticism highlights the need for urgent action to address the crisis.
