The Presidency has shared an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated image portraying First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as an akara seller.
The image was posted on Friday via the official X account of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre.
It shows the First Lady wearing an apron while frying akara, with a sign beside her that reads, “Iya Alakara – Hot and Fresh Akara.”
The post came hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, speaking at the inaugural Presidential Press Corps Dinner at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, jokingly referred to the First Lady as “Iya Alakara,” a Yoruba phrase meaning “mother of the akara seller.”
The image also follows the First Lady’s remarks during the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Flow with Confidence campaign at the State House, where she encouraged women and young people to explore small businesses that require little start-up capital, including selling akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli.
Since its release, the AI-generated image has generated mixed reactions on X, with many users questioning why it was shared.
