Nigerian socialite Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has responded to allegations of bribing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges against him.
In a statement, Bobrisky denied the allegations, saying: “Please, everyone calling to tell me the danger I’m in and the plans against me should hold it now and forget it. I don’t want any threat no more.”
He expressed fear of being detained and sentenced to prison for a second time but affirmed his readiness for investigation, stressing: “I demand an independent and open investigation for the world to see… not in the same EFCC office where I was detained.”
Bobrisky questioned the authenticity of the leaked audio, stating: “Anybody can alter any audio, add or frame any audio and put it out… Best of luck. Anyone who published any audio should take responsibility for the audio.”
He concluded: “The fact remains that I am not the maker of that audio, and I didn’t publish any audio… I will meet you guys in any court this time around if you have any case against me.”
The controversy follows a cryptic suicide note posted by Bobrisky earlier, sparking concerns among fans and followers.
The EFCC has not commented on the allegations. The case remains under scrutiny, with many calling for transparency and a thorough investigation.
