DANGOTE REFINERY COMMENCES PETROL DISTRIBUTION, BEGINS LOADING TRUCKS

Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, began distributing petrol on Sunday, with the first set of trucks leaving its Ibeju Lekki facilities.

Dangote Group announced the milestone on its X (formerly Twitter) account, sharing photos and videos of loaded trucks departing the refinery.

The refinery, with a 650,000-barrel-per-day capacity, aims to meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs and export surplus to other African countries. Its operations are projected to boost Nigeria’s economy, create jobs, and enhance energy security.

NNPC Limited deployed over 100 trucks to the refinery on Saturday in preparation for the petrol loading, with hundreds more en route.

This development follows the Nigerian government’s announcement on Friday that petrol supply from Dangote Refinery would commence on September 15, after reaching an agreement on pricing and supply terms.

NNPC Limited will serve as the sole off-taker of petrol from the refinery, with other marketers sourcing the product from the national oil company.
