Benue Assembly Approves N6.6bn for LG Election, Supplementary Budget Gets Nod

The Benue State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget of N6,644,778,900 for the conduct of local government elections in the state. The approval was given during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Chief Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

The approval follows a request by Governor Hyacinth Alia for supplementary funding to ensure a hitch-free and credible election on October 5th. The move demonstrates the administration’s commitment to democratic processes and good governance.

With this approval, the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) is expected to conduct a seamless and transparent election, ensuring that the will of the people is reflected in the outcome.
