In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has reaffirmed Usman Ododo’s triumph in the Kogi State governorship election, solidifying his position as the rightful leader. This decision brings relief and celebration to the camp of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by Muritala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, citing lack of merit. This ruling aligns with the earlier Court of Appeal decision, which found Ajaka’s claims of over-voting, certificate forgery, and other allegations unsubstantiated.
With 446,237 votes, Ododo was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Supreme Court’s decision upholds the election outcome, ensuring Ododo’s leadership in Kogi State for the next three years, maintaining continuity with his predecessor’s vision.
