A group under the Take It Back movement has requested Minister Nyesom Wike to grant them the use of Eagle Square for the proposed #EndBadGovernance protest from August 1 to August 10. In a letter, the group demanded amenities such as 24-hour power supply, toilet facilities, water, and security for protesters.
The group also requested removal of the outer wire mesh barrier facing Aso Rock Villa for easy access to the Presidential Villa. Meanwhile, the FCT police have deployed 4,200 policemen and explosive ordnance device experts to ensure public safety and prevent the protests from being hijacked.
The police command announced raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings/shanties, and stop-and-search operations in collaboration with sister security agencies. The protest aims to demand better governance and may be prolonged beyond ten days to address the protracted national crisis.
