Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the FCT will not be available for the proposed hunger protests scheduled for August 1st. This declaration came after a security meeting in the capital on Thursday.
Wike emphasized that the day has been reserved for the celebration and issuance of certificates to the Chairmen of the six Area Councils and traditional rulers, and therefore, protests will not be permitted.
While acknowledging the right to protest, Wike stressed that it must be conducted within the bounds of the law. He urged Nigerians to work together to address the country’s challenges and appealed for patience, assuring that the difficult times will soon pass.
Earlier, Wike visited the Saburi community, urging residents to shun the hunger protests and promising to build a police station and establish a primary healthcare center in the community.
