Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has apologised to the senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over a derogatory remark against her.
Apparently, Senator Godswill Akpabio cautioned Natasha last week on the Senate floor when she spoke without being recognised by the Senate president.
The conflict began when during the plenary, Akpabio asked those in favour of a motion on the rebuilding of the razed Karu, Abuja Market moved by Senator Ireti Kingibe.
Senator Natasha subsequently rose to stop the motion from being defeated and rose without being recognised.
In reaction to this, Akpabio said, “You see Senator Natasha, in the chamber, you have to be recognized before you speak. We’re not in a nightclub.”
Prior to that, Senator Akpabio had also publicly disregarded another female senator, Ireti Kingibe when he told Minister Nyesom Wike not to bother about her comments.
Speaking on the floor of the red chamber on Tuesday, Akpabio apologised to Natasha, stating he would never intentionally denigrate any woman.
Senator Akpabio opened up that his phone and that of his wife had been bombarded with calls and text messages, mostly insults from many Nigerians.
He said, “I will not intentionally denigrate any woman and I always pray that God will uplift women. Distinguished Senator Natasha, I want to apologise to you.

“Social media handlers should practice with decorum. We won’t out of anger regulate social media.”
Akpabio’s apology is coming up amid allegations of his involvement with a number of Nollywood ladies.
Apparently, a video footage of the plenary session captured Akpabio stating that in his tradition he is married to only wife but social media listed many wives, got many Nigerians to infer that he was indirectly addressing the issue of his alleged side chics.
