Reinstated Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Shaibu rejoined the APC in Benin, alongside prominent members of the Dan Orbih-led Legacy Group, stating that he aims to “add value” to the party.
“It’s time to take back our state,” Shaibu declared, vowing to support APC’s governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa. He expressed readiness to take action, saying, “We are not afraid. We are ready to move forward.”
Shaibu’s defection was marked by a symbolic gesture, as he knelt before former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, receiving applause from party supporters. This development signals a significant shift in Edo State’s political landscape.
