A member of the House of Representatives, Ekene Abubakar Adams, has passed away.
Adams, 39, represented the Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency on the Labour Party (LP) platform and was chairman of the house committee on sports.
He was also a former general manager of Kada City Football Club and Remo Stars.
According to Akin Rotimi, spokesperson for the House of Representatives, Adams was “a dedicated public servant, passionate sports administrator, and kind philanthropist.”
Rotimi described Adams as “a kind and gentle humanitarian, loved by all who knew him” and noted that his dedication to grassroots sports development in Nigeria was “unwavering.”
Adams’ death comes less than a week after the passing of Olaide Adewale Akinremi, another member of the House of Representatives.
This marks the third death in the lower legislative chamber in 2024, following the demise of Isa Dogonyaro in May.
