Nigerian Military Vows to Continue Fight Against Insecurity Despite Recent Attacks

The military has vowed to continue its fight against insecurity despite the recent killing of five soldiers and an airman in a terrorist ambush along the Kaduna-Abuja road. Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, expressed sadness over the loss but emphasized the military’s pride in risking lives for the country’s safety. He noted that the recent suicide bombings in Gwoza, which killed innocent citizens and military personnel, are a desperate attempt by terrorists to regain relevance.

Major General Buba acknowledged the challenges but assured that operations are going according to plan. He also clarified the establishment of a school of Islamic Affairs, stating that it is not a departure from the military’s religious inclination, but rather an effort to improve understanding and education.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, briefed the committee on recent operations, highlighting the successes of the Multinational Joint Task Force and the Nigerian Military in eliminating terrorists and apprehending others. Despite the challenges, the security agencies remain committed to maintaining Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring citizen safety. The military’s resolve and fighting spirit remain unshaken, leading to numerous successes across various theatres of operation.
