The Edo State Government has dismissed allegations of corruption made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration, describing them as “spurious and outlandish.”
In a statement on Sunday, Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, accused the Edo APC of employing diversionary tactics ahead of the September 21 poll. He stated that the APC’s claims are baseless and aimed at deceiving the people of Edo State.
The APC had accused the Obaseki administration of monumental corruption, calling for an EFCC investigation into alleged fraudulent contracts and a N28 billion five-star hotel project. However, Osagie maintained that the APC’s allegations are unfounded and intended to distract from their own failures, which have brought hardship to Nigerians.
The Edo State Government has denied any wrongdoing, and the EFCC has not commented on the matter. The exchange is the latest in a series of political salvos between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition APC in Edo State as the governorship election approaches.
