Peter Obi Did Not Believe in Labour Party Ideologies – Doyin Okupe

Doyin Okupe, a former director-general of the Labour Party presidential campaign, revealed that Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, never truly embraced the party’s ideologies.

According to Okupe, the Labour Party was merely a “special purpose vehicle (SPV)” for the presidential election.

During an appearance on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show’, Okupe explained that his membership in the party ended with Obi’s loss in the election.

He stated, “The LP for us — for Peter Obi and I — and those in the leadership of the movement… The party was a “special purpose vehicle (SPV)”.

“I have never been a labour person, I have never operated on the left before, but we needed a platform, and this was the only platform readily available to us.”

Okupe further explained that they had hoped to find a middle ground with the labour movement if they won the election, but acknowledged that Peter Obi is not a “labour person” or a leftist, but rather a businessman and trader.

Okupe concluded, “I am not a social worker. As far as I’m concerned, my membership of labour expired the moment we lost that election.”
