It was gathered by Hobnob News reports that two students from Federal University Wukari (FUW) in Taraba State, Joshua Sardauna from the Economics Department and Obianu Elizabeth from the Microbiology Department, were kidnapped around two weeks ago outside the school premises. However, there’s good news as they have now been freed.

Prior to this, the kidnappers demanded a hefty ransom of N50 million. After negotiations, the ransom was reduced to N12 million, and finally settled at N700,000. The parents of the victims engaged in negotiations to secure their children’s release.According to Mrs. Ashu Agbu, the Head of Information and Protocol at the University, the students regained their freedom around 10 pm on Thursday night. She confirmed that ransom was paid for their release, and the collaborative efforts of security operatives and the school management played a crucial role in facilitating their freedom.

The students at the university expressed their relief at the safe return of their peers. They called on both the state and federal governments to work closely with the school’s security team to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
