Wike Wins First Round In Fight With Atiku Ahead Of PDP NEC

It was gathered by Hobnob News reports that the camp of Nyesom Wike has won the first round in the battle of wits with that of Atiku Abubakar for the soul of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP with a court order barring the erstwhile national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus from the forthcoming statutory consultations ahead of the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the party.

Prince Secondus is a key fixture  in the Atiku camp and the court order issued by Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja is seen as a morale booster for the Wike Camp against the camp of Atiku ahead of the NEC.Secondus popularly known as Total Chairman in PDP circles is reckoned as one of those with the richest institutional memories of the party having served in the NEC since 1999.

He was exited from his position as national chairman of the PDP in 2022 during a contest of wills with his former enabler, Wike.

Subsequently, he became a familiar fixture in the Atiku Camp.

PDP which has been in comatose for much of the period since it lost the last presidential election is aiming to revive itself with statutory meetings including the National Caucus scheduled for April 17 and the NEC on April 18.

Ahead of the meetings, a member of the party, Titus Jones obtained an ex parte order from Justice Ekwo asking the court to bar the PDP from inviting Prince Secondus to the National Caucus.

Apparently, Secondus is the first defendant in the suit that has the PDP, acting national chairman, Amb Umar Damagun, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Executive Committee, NEC, the Board of Trustees, BoT and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC as second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh defendants.

It was gathered that the applications specifically requested that the principal officials of the party, notably the National Secretary should not invite Secondus for the National Caucus and the NEC meetings.

Justice Ekwo stated this in giving his order ;

Order is hereby made restraining the 1st defendant from demanding for any notice of National Caucus meetings or meetings of the National Executive Committee (5th Defendant) or Board of Trustees (7thDefendant) or any other meetings of the 2ndDefendant from the 4th Defendant pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

Apparently, the court also ordered Secondus not to demand to be invited to the NEC meetings in what is seen as a move by the Wike camp to undermine the camp of Atiku.
