The Federal Government and the 36 states have agreed on the creation state police to boost security across the country.
This was the resolution of the meeting held on Thursday between President Bola Tinubu and the 36 State governors at the State House, Abuja.
The Information and National Orientation Minister, Idris Mohammed, made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting.
He noted that security improvements nationwide were acknowledged at the meeting, with a focus on enhancing forest rangers’ numerical strength and exploring the possibility of State Police.
The Information Minister said further discussion will be held on the issue between government at the centre and the states before sending a bill to that effect to the National Assembly for necessary constitutional amendment.
