President Bola Tinubu has expressed his administration’s determination to transform the agricultural sector, with the aim of making Nigeria self-sufficient in food production and a net exporter of agricultural products. The President made this announcement while receiving a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday.
During the meeting, President Tinubu highlighted the significance of spiritual endeavors in nation-building and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting religious activities. He stressed the need for collaboration between political and spiritual leaders to advance national interests and foster unity among the people.
In terms of agriculture, the President outlined several initiatives his administration plans to deploy to bolster agricultural productivity. These include expanding farmlands, providing low-interest loans to farmers, and investing in irrigation infrastructure. President Tinubu declared, “We are bringing thousands of tractors. Food production will be greatly expanded through aggressive mechanization. We must be productive as a people. That is the Sunnah (teachings of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad) and the principles I grew up understanding.”
President Tinubu also expressed his administration’s support for plans and efforts to facilitate the Hajj pilgrimage, with the aim of providing ease and succor to Hajj pilgrims. He assured that the government would stand by its commitment to equipping hospitals with modern equipment, providing healthcare professionals with training, and ensuring social welfare for every citizen, including comprehensive health insurance coverage.
The President also commended the Global Tijaniyya Movement for their support and prayers, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in building a better Nigeria. Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, speaking on behalf of the delegation, hailed President Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and stability.
With President Tinubu’s ambitious plans to revolutionize agriculture and increase food production, it is hoped that Nigeria will become self-sufficient and even surpass its current status as a net importer of agricultural products. The President’s dedication to equipping hospitals and providing comprehensive health insurance is also expected to improve the overall healthcare system in the country. As Nigeria moves forward under President Tinubu’s leadership, collaboration between political and spiritual leaders will play a significant role in advancing the nation’s interests and promoting unity among its people.
