Adeleke Constitutes Committee to Resolve Osun JUSUN Strike

In an effort to resolve the ongoing strike by the Osun branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Governor Ademola Adeleke has constituted a seven-man committee. The committee, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye, has been given a mandate to find a lasting solution to the crisis within the judiciary within seven days.

Governor Adeleke has also written a letter to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, seeking their assistance in resolving the JUSUN crisis. The governor expressed his concern over the protracted strike action and emphasized the need to restore normalcy within the judicial arm of government.

The governor’s previous efforts to address the issues included the payment of withheld salaries of some judicial staffers, negotiations on wardrobe allowances, and hosting the national leadership of the judicial staff union. However, with the strike continuing, the governor felt it was necessary to take further action.

“We are being careful all along not to be accused of meddling in judicial matters. But it is now almost an emergency. We must get the issues ironed out,” said Governor Adeleke in a statement. He also mentioned that he had urged the national leadership of JUSUN to mediate in the dispute.

The strike by JUSUN has resulted in a halt in judicial activities, causing delays in the dispensation of justice. The committee’s main objective is to find a resolution that will allow the courts to resume their normal functioning.

As the seven-man committee begins its work, all eyes are on its progress and the hope of a swift resolution to the strike that has paralyzed the judicial system in Osun State.
