The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has officially been sworn in as the Governor of the state. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Cocoa Conference Hall in the governor’s office in Akure, the state capital. The oath of office was administered by the chief judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, at exactly 5:18 pm.
The late Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON, passed away recently, leading to the ascension of Aiyedatiwa to the position of Governor. In his speech, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his sadness over the loss of his predecessor. He described Governor Akeredolu as a courageous leader who always stood for the truth.
Aiyedatiwa also highlighted some of Governor Akeredolu’s notable achievements, including the establishment of the Amotekun Corps, which greatly improved the security situation in the Southwest region. He also mentioned the governor’s contributions to the health sector, infrastructural development, education, and industrial development, particularly the Ondo-Linyl Industrial Hub in Ore.
The newly sworn-in Governor acknowledged the importance of continuity and pledged to continue the work started by Governor Akeredolu. He assured the people of Ondo State that his administration would prioritize the welfare of the people and make decisions in their best interests.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national chairman of their party, Alhaji Adbullahi Ganduje, and other party leaders for their support during this difficult time. He also urged the people of Ondo State to continue to pray for the success of his administration as they strive to implement good governance practices.
As Governor Aiyedatiwa assumes office, the people of Ondo State have high hopes for his leadership. With the legacy of Governor Akeredolu to guide him, it is expected that Aiyedatiwa will continue to prioritize the development and well-being of the state and its residents.
