Lagos State Government takes a proactive step towards resolving landlord-tenant disputes within a 60-day timeframe. Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN), announces this initiative during a press briefing, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving the legal framework surrounding such conflicts.
The resolution of landlord-tenant disputes has historically been a lengthy and arduous process, causing inconvenience for both tenants and landlords. However, by implementing this new time-limit, the Lagos State Government aims to bring relief to individuals facing these conflicts, expediting the legal process and ensuring fair resolutions are reached in a timely manner.
In addition to the time-limit, Mr. Pedro emphasizes the government’s focus on providing alternative methods of dispute resolution. Through mediation and negotiation outside the courtroom, the state encourages amicable settlements, thereby easing the burden on the legal system and promoting peaceful coexistence between tenants and landlords.
