KANO — In commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State announced that his government has made significant progress in blocking leakages of public funds in the state. Governor Yusuf, represented by his Deputy Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, highlighted the positive impact this measure has had on the people through the delivery of dividends of democracy.
The Governor also noted that the government has successfully reversed all illegal deductions of pensioners’ benefits and workers’ salaries in the state. He emphasized that these actions reflect their commitment to transparent and accountable leadership, with zero tolerance for corruption. Governor Yusuf stated that this is in line with their campaign promises and is an integral part of their blueprint for the development of Kano State as the most populous state and the center of commerce for the region.
Since taking office, the government has taken swift action to recover public assets that were illegally diverted for personal gains. As an example, Governor Yusuf mentioned the Asiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital, which has been renovated and resumed full operation, providing critical healthcare services to the people of Kano State. He also highlighted the upgrades made to the Accident and Emergency center of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital. These achievements demonstrate the significant impact of blocking leakages in the financial system of government.
Recently, the government also initiated the payment of gratuities to pensioners in the state, disbursing a staggering sum of N6 billion ($15.5 million) to pensioners from grade one to five. Governor Yusuf proudly mentioned that when they assumed office on May 29th, salaries were promptly paid. These developments showcase the meaningful achievements resulting from the actions taken to block leakages and uphold fiscal integrity in Kano State.
The government’s dedication to eradicating corruption and ensuring the proper utilization of public funds is evident in the progress they have made so far.
