Minister of State for Defence Visits Victims of Accidental Bombing

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Muhammed Bello Matawalle, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, has led a high-level delegation to visit and express the Federal Government’s condolences to the victims of the recent accidental bombing by the Nigerian Army in Agabi Local Government, Kaduna State.

 

During the visit, the Minister condemned the unfortunate incident, stating that despite the tragedy, the fight against insurgency and terrorism must continue. He emphasized, “We are not going to relent in our fight against terrorism because these criminals must be defeated. We are going to continue fighting the criminals until we succeed against banditry and other criminalities in this country.”

 

The Minister clarified that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed him to lead the delegation in paying a condolence visit to the people and government of Kaduna State, as well as to the concerned families of the victims, including those who tragically lost their lives and those receiving treatment at the hospital.

 

The Minister, accompanied by top military leaders such as Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Christopher G. Musa, and Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TA Lagbaja, visited the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna to meet the injured victims and express the Federal Government’s condolences. They also visited the Government House to convey their sympathies to the good people of the state.

 

Matawalle assured the State Government that the Federal Government would do everything possible to support the families of the victims. Furthermore, a powerful panel of inquiry will be set up to investigate the cause of the incident and prevent its recurrence in the future.

 

As the nation mourns the loss of innocent lives in this tragic incident, the government remains committed to strengthening security measures and ensuring the safety of its citizens in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
