The Abia State Government has denied the report that Governor Alex Otti consumed a food budget worth more than nine hundred million naira, in the state government’s third quarter expenditure.
The government in its response says the quoted sum for meals and refreshment was not solely spent by the governor.
According to a statement by a representative of the State Government, the quoted sum for refreshment was collectively spent by the entire 76 Ministries and Departments in the state.
The government clarified the figure covers expense for special events, such as retreats, conferences, and related governmental functions.
The Abia State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Kingsley Anosike; his Information Aide, Prince Okey Kanu; and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kazie Uko, labeled the circulating figure as “mischievously twisted by opponents”.
