President Bola Tinubu has read out a riot act to his son, Seyi Tinubu and others who attend the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting uninvited.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC), a part of the executive branch of the Government of Nigeria has the role, as enshrined in the Ministers’ Statutory Powers and Duties Act, to serve as an advisory body to the President of Nigeria, who serves as the FEC’s chairman.
The cabinet who are appointed and report to the President, consists of 24[2] Federal Ministries, each responsible for some aspect of providing government services, as well as a number of parastatals (government-owned corporations).
President Tinubu obviously miffed by the break of protocol, cautioned his son and others sneaking in.
In his words:
“Last week I noticed undue access of people sneaking in and out of this council. Including, I saw the photograph of my son, Seyi seating behind the cubicer there.
“That is not acceptable.
“I will announce to you those people who are suppose to be here with my consent. Hadiza Bala Usman, SA Policy. Bayo Onanuga, Information and Strategy. Hakeem Muri Okunola, Principal private secretary. Damilotun Aderemi, private secretary.
“Those are the people I granted exceptions to be here when we are conducting the business of the nation.
“Unless I send for you, don’t come”, he said.
