The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) in the USA has intensified its campaign against corruption in Nigeria by calling on the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to dig into potential donations made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Chicago State University (CSU). NADECO alleges that these donations, whether made directly or through third parties, may be linked to inducements aimed at securing special privileges from CSU.
In a resolute statement issued during a hybrid World Press Conference held at the renowned Chicago City Hall, NADECO USA expressed its commitment to upholding the fight against corruption and preserving democratic values in Nigeria. The group emphasized the need for cooperation from domestic and international authorities to conduct a thorough background investigation on President Tinubu.
One of the key issues highlighted by NADECO USA during the press conference was the doubt surrounding the authenticity of President Tinubu’s university diploma. The coalition demanded clarifications on the diploma’s legitimacy, as well as information about the gender and status of the applicant, particularly as a transferring student.
The allegations put forward by NADECO USA were prompted by the complexities and irregularities surrounding Nigeria’s Presidential election held in February 2023. The coalition believes that investigating President Tinubu’s potential contributions to CSU could shed light on any monetary or other inducements offered, aiming to secure advantages for the Nigerian leader.
