The Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, arraigned a driver, Victor Emenogu, and one other, Babangida Sanni, for allegedly stealing goods worth N1.7m from one Aziza Uko, at Ilaje, the Ajah area of the state.
The 42-year-old and his accomplice were arraigned before Magistrate Adefunke Famobiwo sitting at the Eti-Osa Magistrates’ Court on two counts of stealing.
Emenogu and Sanni were accused of conspiring to steal one 3.5KVA Elepaq generator, one 7.5KVA Firman double engine, two LG split unit air conditioners and two 50 litres Ariston bathroom water heaters.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Chinedu Njoku, told the court that the defendants carried out the offence on July 14, 2023, around 1am at No 3, Daffodil Emerald Estate, Mobil Road, Ilaje, Ajah, Lagos State.
Njoku said the offences contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The defence council, P.N Okoroani, prayed the court to grant them bail in the most liberal terms.
