The Aftermath, By Precious I. Amukpo

The polls have come and gone,
But the aftermath leaves us forlorn,
The results announced was vague and unclear,
Leaving the opposition with no choice but to fear.

It was gathered by Hobnob News reports that they told them to seek justice in the courts,
But the APC seems to have all the support,
The LP is now in court, fighting for their entitled rights,
But the APC won’t let them out of their sight.

Obi seems to pose a threat to Jagaban’s power,
But the court’s verdict should be respected in the hour,
Now Obi dominates the news, a once-promising contender,
But today, he’s seen as a threat to the APC’s agenda.

Privacy is a right, but not for the ruling party,
They invade the opposition’s privacy with false stories and calls so hearty,
To sell a false narrative about Obi and the obi-dients,
So they look like the better ones in governance.

Where is the president-elect, we wonder,
We hear he’s in France or the UK, just ponder,
Is he planning to govern from Europe afar,
Or is it just another scam to further destroy our hope’s bar?

The whole process lacked transparency,
And the president-elect’s identity is shrouded in uncertainty,
Whether or not Obi won is speculation
Until proven and verdict delivered by the court’s specification

This will be a long battle at the tribunal
But it’s one the people patiently await with no anxiety,
The opposition has prayed to the court that the elections be cancelled,
And for the disqualification of the presumed immediate winner, to avoid being baffled.

Let the APC abide by the rule of law,
And leave the LP alone with no flaw,
Obi isn’t the only contender, let’s not forget,
Atiku also contests, but Obi seems to be the opposition’s emblem.

We don’t want this chaos, we want Nigeria to thrive and succeed,
But the ruling party must let the judiciary have the lead,
So the opposition and the ruling party can have their fair game,
At the tribunal, with no interference, bias or blame.

Nigeria deserves the best, let’s not forget, And work towards a future that’s prosperous and perfect,
Let’s respect each other’s rights and differences, And strive towards a harmonious and united existence.
