Headline: Akpabio Claims Insecurity Will End Two Weeks After Elections, Blames Political Opponents Abuja, Nigeria — President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has stated that Nigeria’s worsening security situation will subside within two weeks after the forthcoming general elections. Akpabio made the remarks on Tuesday during the official commissioning of the Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, where he attributed the surge in insecurity to political activities surrounding the elections. According to the Senate President, opponents of Bola Ahmed Tinubu are allegedly fueling unrest due to their inability to counter the administration’s performance. “Insecurity is increasing because elections are coming, because people don’t know what to do again,” Akpabio said. “Immediately after the election, two weeks after the election, insecurity will stop. The insecurity is being sponsored by people.” He further praised President Tinubu’s leadership, insisting that the current administration is delivering results, which he claimed has unsettled its critics. Meanwhile, security challenges across the country have recently intensified, with reports indicating that several military commanders and soldiers have lost their lives in ongoing operations. In response to the deteriorating situation, President Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police as part of efforts to address the crisis and restore stability nationwide.
