Bad Boy Timz’s hypeman and event host, Sadiq Adebimpe, aka Sceed Barms, has explained how he combines his different roles while noting that Afrobeat will attract more global attention and support.
Sceed Barms has worked as Bad Boy Timz’s hypeman for three years starting with hosting school parties and friends’ birthday parties and has anchored over 200 events.
He believes the “Nigeria music industry is evolving at a very fast pace and it’s evident in the attention that Afrobeat is getting right now.”
He has anchored events including corporate dinners, summits, conferences, weddings, birthdays, concerts and end of the year parties.
Narrating his three years experience as an event host/compere, Sceed Barms said, “Most event planners make me their choice because I can host events with proper coordination and conveniently switch to the life of the party when the after party begins with melodious vibes if the need arises, so most wedding planners just book me for both the reception and after party.
“I am currently the official hypeman of BADBOYTIMZ, and have worked with senior colleagues like the legendary 2Baba, 9ice, Mayorkun, Bella Shmurda, Ayra Starr, Zinoleesky, BNXN fka Buju, and Mohbad amongst others. I have also worked with DJs like Spinall, Neptune, 4Kerty and the likes.
“Event planners from different parts of the country can attest to the quality of my services and level of professionalism. I have hosted events for top government officials like the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari. I have also worked for the Senator representing Ilorin Central, Mallam Saliu Mustapha; the real estate mogul and billionaire, Dr. Sijibomi Ogundele, amongst others. I have worked with organisations like Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO Plc), for their GTCrea8 university tour; Pal pensions and Infinix Nigeria amongst other top multinational companies,” he said.
Adebimpe also mentioned some of the awards he has won and places he has been to as an entertainment mogul.
“I won the Ewa awards – Hypeman and Event host of the year 2022. My topographical journey has linked me to states like Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Ondo, Edo, Nigeria, Kogi, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
“Due to my unique energy at events, my fans have tagged me King of Vibes, King of Contents, Aridunnu of Hype, amongst all other titles.”
The University of Ilorin graduate of Mechanical Engineering has been doing music together and recording songs with Bad Boy Timz prior to his current role.
He has featured at Bad Boy Timz University tour, Live Spot X Festival with Wizkid, Omo Better concert and Hennessy Tour amongst others.
Speaking on his relationship with the Faya crooner, Sceed Barms said, “I met Bad Boy Timz through my best friend and high school classmate, Kola. Kola is his elder brother. I started doing music in 2010. Timz’s dad is a musician, so he (Timz) has always wanted to do music and we just clicked and we started going to the studio together and recording songs.
“I jumped on a challenge he did for his song MJ in 2020 for hypemen. I won the challenge and was chosen by Bad Boy Timz to become his official hypeman.”
Elaborating on Afrobeat impact globally, he noted, “International collaborations have helped Afrobeat and we are now one year on the billboard charts which is a big deal for the Nigeria music industry.
“Nigerian artistes like Tems, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Femi Kuti have been nominated several times for the biggest musical awards in the world and three of them have won. This is just the beginning as more afrobeats artistes are getting international recognitions. Davido performed at the World cup finals, Burna Boy is set to perform at the champions league finals, he also performed at the NBA allstar games, the world is paying attention to us and they want to hear more from afrobeats artistes,” Adebimpe said.
