The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has affirmed Engr. Peter Terwase Tortiv-Ato as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
The affirmation took place on Sunday during the PDP Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency primary at Lion Plaza in Vandeikya Local Government Area.
The motion for Ato’s affirmation was moved by Rt. Hon. Shimawua Azaigba and seconded by the PDP leader in Konshisha, Hon. Ortese Kpev, noting that the consensus process that produced Ato was transparent, credible, and in line with PDP and INEC guidelines.
Responding, Ato appreciated the leadership of the party, including the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, the State PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji and members of the state executive, the PDP governorship consensus candidate, Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, as well as Jechira stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him to fly the party’s flag for the Jechira House of Representatives seat.
Ato assured the people of Jechira that, if elected, he would provide effective representation by being a strong voice for the constituency at the Green Chamber, delivering meaningful impact at the grassroots to improve the lives of the people, and remaining accessible to constituents at all times.
Speaking at the event, the leader of Jechira PDP, Dr. Saawuan Tarnongu, congratulated Ato on his affirmation and assured party faithful that PDP would reclaim power in the state in 2027 to reposition Benue on the path of progressive development and urged members to support Ato and other PDP candidates, assuring them that their support would not be in vain.
Also speaking, the PDP State Secretary, Daniel Nyikwagh, congratulated Ato and urged him to use the opportunity, when elected, to unite the people of Jechira, stressing that Ato must not disappoint the trust reposed in him by the party and the people.
In their separate remarks, PDP leaders and chairmen from Vandeikya and Konshisha, Hon. Bemgba Chia, Hon. Otetese Kpev, Francis Uba, Gwaza Ane, as well as PDP leaders from Gaav, Tiev, and Kyan, Dr. Mhen Iorbee, Saaorun Toshor, and Williams Ortese congratulated Ato on his affirmation as the Jechira House of Representatives candidate and pledged their support towards his victory at the polls.
The affirmation exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Department of State Services, DSS, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
Ato was accompanied by the PDP leader of Mbakyaha Council Ward in Vandeikya LGA, Mr. Samuel Akough, and House of Assembly candidate for Tiev Constituency, Hon. Daniel Terlumun Girgi among others.
