A popular Nollywood actor-turned politician, has raised alarm over the alleged withdrawal of his security aides ahead of the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Assembly primary election scheduled for May 20, 2026.
Desmond, who represents Surulere I constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, made the allegation in a trending video circulating on social media.
In the video, the lawmaker accused party leaders and local government officials of intimidation and coercion aimed at forcing party members to support a preferred aspirant in the primary election.
According to him, some local government officials were allegedly removed from their positions because of their support for him.
“Intimidation, coercion, twisting and forcing people to follow their own candidate is what is happening today in Surulere. Telling them they will not be beneficiaries of some empowerment,” he said.
“We have been intimidated so much that a lot of people have been fired from the local government because they follow me. My security personnel were also taken away from me yesterday. I’m now left alone to myself. What have I done?” he added.
The development comes amid growing political tension within the APC in Lagos ahead of the party primaries.
Hobnob News reports that the controversy followed the public withdrawal of support for Desmond by , reportedly over the lawmaker’s involvement in moves to impeach in 2025.
Reacting to the fallout, Desmond, who is currently serving his fourth term in the Lagos Assembly, had earlier apologised to Gbajabiamila during an appearance on the TVC programme, “Your View.”
